Dental Assistant (Part Time) - (86953)

Position Highlights:

Education:
Preferred: 2 years of college or state certification from an accredited dental assistant school or minimum of 2 years on the job work. (Willing to train)

Responsibilities:
The purpose of this job is to provide optimal health care during dental and therapeutic procedures in an inpatient and outpatient setting and also to provide support for the Dental Center by using refined secretarial and administrative skills.

  • Maintains OSHA and infection control guidelines. Prepares instruments for Central Sterilization.
  • Takes digital radiographs.
  • Takes pre and post-op blood pressure and pulse on each new patient and each patient receiving a local anesthetic.
  • Records charting of oral conditions as determined by DDS. Takes alginate impressions, pours and trims them as directed by dentist.
  • Prepare and set up operatories for specified treatment including composite, amalgam, prep, insert, endo, perio, emergency, & surgical trays.
  • Assists the dentist in patient education as directed.
  • Reviews patient medical histories on new patients and updates histories of returning patients for dentist's review.
  • Answering Telephone Calls/Greeting Visitors: Handles all incoming calls for the department, answers questions and/or triage calls to the appropriate personnel for assistance. Transcribes and relays messages when necessary. Greets and assists all customers/visitors to the department.
