Be a part of the Zingerman’s Deli Team! If you are interested in a fast paced, fun and friendly environment and would like to be one of our kitchen dishwashers –we’d love to have you on our team! You are the heartbeat of our kitchen department–washing dishes from the production of food in the Deli and assisting in completing the production of key menu items. We are looking for full-time and part-time staff. This position pays $14-$16/hour including tips. We also pay you to learn (no prior food knowledge necessary, just a passion for learning) AND you’ll also get a free meal on each shift, a paid break, a staff discount at all Zingerman’s businesses, access to health insurance, a super discounted bus pass, and lots of other staff benefits.

Compensation: $14-$16/hour (includes tips)

• Full-time, 30-40 hours/week
• Part-time, 25-29 hours/week
• Morning, afternoon and evening shifts available
• Weekend availability

Our Performance Expectations - Essential Functions:

• Maintains clean kitchen floor: sweeping, spraying, mopping when necessary
• Takes out garbage and dirty linens regularly
• Knows and follows proper rotation, dating and food storage procedures
• Keeps unwashed dishes and dish area clean and organized
• Performs work station sanitation properly
• Cleans burners, stove, pans, plastic, underneath, behind and in front of stove
• Knows what to do during Health Inspection
• Understands and avoids food temperature "danger zone"
• Completes assigned tasks on time, or tells production manager/supervisor before deadline that you need help
• Heats soups and barbecue items following proper process and maintaining correct temps
• Uses food products & disposables responsibly, upholding our commitment to only send out high quality products while keeping waste to a minimum
• Takes care of transferring, cooling and storing (including labeling and dating) chicken broth and roasters
• Puts away clean, dry dishes in proper places
• Washes dishes to meet cleanliness standards

The Success Patterns for this position:

• Has basic kitchen and knife skills
• Has a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• Can work early mornings (as early as 8am) and late evenings (as late as 11pm)
• Has prior work experience that required the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
• Has some past kitchen experience
