Position Overview:


The Dean of College and Post-Secondary Success is responsible for managing the Post-Secondary Success Team, which includes (2) Alumni Success Coordinators and ancillary support staff from the Michigan College Access Network and/or the Michigan College Access >>> The primary role of the Dean of College and Post-Secondary Success is to cultivate a college going/post-secondary atmosphere at JRLA. All scholars and staff should know their role within the system to ensure that all scholars have a post-secondary plan that is accessible for them and their families.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Grants
  • Seek out funding opportunities for scholars to continue with post-secondary education
  • JRLA Campus Responsibilities
  • Seek funding opportunities for post-secondary programming
  • External scholarship/grant opportunities
  • Co-create programing and/or curriculum necessary for scholars and staff to expose and ensure scholars are prepared to matriculate and to be successful within their
  • Manage Post-Secondary Team
  • In-house Scholarship management
  • Outline roles and responsibilities for Alumni Success Coordinators & MCAN/MCAC support personnel
  • Ensure all scholars/families are prepared to transition to post-secondary placement
  • Expose scholars and families to various post-secondary opportunities
  • Outline projects necessary to cultivate post-secondary/college going atmosphere
  • Ensure all scholars have completed the FAFSA

  • Cultivate and manage relationships and execute on-site/off-site college exposure programs
  • 2 year colleges
  • Support Assistant Principal/Dean of Instruction with creating/managing post-secondary course work on-site
  • Advanced Placement support, as needed
  • Support Dean of Scholars with transcript audits as needed
  • Manage college/career pathways
  • Onsite visits, rep visits, post-secondary field studies/tours/visits
  • Manage all Post-Secondary placement supports
  • Military/Trade/Other Programs
  • Support the School Leader in the hiring process
  • Manage Post-Secondary Team including all caseloads of 12th grade scholars:
  • Naviance
  • Assist in Coordination of the School Improvement Team and Plan
  • Gradsnap
  • Create, coordinate, implement, and manage partnerships with post-secondary institutions necessary to prepare scholars for post-secondary success
  • Certification programs
  • 4 year universities
  • Ensure systems/structures are in place to navigate senior year and transition to post-secondary placement
  • Assist in creating and coordinating Professional Development
  • JRLA programmins
  • Additional Administrative Responsibilities, per Principal request
  • Dual Enrollment
  • Implementation of the Strategic Plan
  • Support accurate record keeping for graduation requirements


Skills and Characteristics:


  • Center all work around the school improvement plan goals;
  • Attend Team Meetings;
  • Ability to create connections among staff and work to actively improve JRLA team;
  • Attend all network professional developments and outside PD, as needed;
  • Support staff and Principal with projects and action items;
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office or other student information systems)
  • Ability to work well without close supervision, meet deadlines and handle confidential information in a professional manner;
  • Positive team attitude: Positive framing around customers and colleagues;
  • Develop and provide professional development as necessary;
  • Use data to inform decision making;
  • Ability to engage in peaceful conflict;
  • Use of data to drive conversations and decisions;
  • Willingness to create new programs or take on new responsibilities as needed;
  • Assist with building-level situations as they arise;
  • Communicate to staff in an effective and timely matter (e-meetings, etc)


Qualifications:


  • Verification of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Proper Michigan School Counselor credentials required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
