SLR International Corporation is currently seeking an Associate Engineer/Scientist position with 5-15 years of experience in providing technical and client-facing database management to join our growing U.S. consultancy. A degree or technical training in database administration such as computer science (CS), management information systems (MIS) or information technology (IT) are preferred. Additional experience with air quality related engineering support is a plus. The successful candidate will work with a strong team of engineers and scientists to support the oil and gas, mining minerals, chemical manufacturing, power, and other industrial sector clients, with projects involving methane management and air quality database systems engineering strategy development and reporting.


This position offers room for technical growth blending database management with environmental consulting and is designed for an individual as a mid-level position looking to expand their career in this exciting field. This is a full-time position envisioned as a hybrid work arrangement, with onsite presence at our Fort Collins, Colorado, Denver, Colorado or future Boise, Idaho offices for part of the workweek. A fully remote position may be available for the appropriate candidate. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and growing international environmental consulting organization.

Required Technical Skills and Experience


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient in technical writing
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems and Oracle SQL
  • Bachelor of Science in Database Administration (e.g., Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology) or Engineering (e.g., Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical or Environmental) with relevant database-related experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel by airplane or car
Preferred Technical Skills and Experience


  • Project management experience (e.g. setting up projects and executing within scope, schedule, and budget constraints)
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with Air Quality Permitting
  • Supplemental experience broader environmental programs (e.g., SPCC, Stormwater, RMP, etc.)
  • Experience with the Intelex ACTS
  • Business development experience
  • Air quality regulatory analysis (state regulations and federal Clean Air Act program standards)
  • Air pollutant emission source calculations using mass balance, emission factors, and/or process simulation (e.g. ProMax â , VMGSim, Aspen HYSYS â , etc.)
  • Compliance reporting, including criteria pollutant and GHG emission inventories

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals, reports and other written deliverables
  • Review federal, state, and local regulations to identify applicable requirements governing the operation of air emission sources
  • Analyze industrial processes and operations to quantify air pollutant emissions
  • Work directly with clients to implement, customize, and use data management systems and tools for tracking compliance with permit requirements and air regulations and methane reduction strategies.
  • Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and reports to collect and analyze emission data, providing insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Prepare calculations using spreadsheets, databases, third party software, and process simulation software to quantify air emissions from industrial emission sources
  • Prepare air quality permit applications to obtain authorization to construct and operate air pollutant emission sources
