Database Administrator (Remote U.S.)

What you’ll do:


  • Works a queue of tickets (incidents, problems, requests, changes) and provides resolutions within internally defined SLAs with a focus on long-term solutions.
  • Works with System Administrators in the design, performance, and maintenance of database hardware.
  • Configures, maintains and monitors database security.
  • Monitors database performance, implements changes and applies new patches and versions when required.
  • Performs tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  • Responsible for the overall administration, installation, and maintenance of all Acentra Health database systems. The majority of our database servers are SQL Server 2016 and higher.
  • Ensures that all systems are compliant with all applicable industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • First responder for incidents, outages, and change requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What you’ll need:


Required Qualifications / Experience


  • 2+ years working with SSIS and SSRS.
  • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server configuration and administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science OR equivalent experience.


Preferred Qualifications / Experience


  • 2+ years of AWS experience in database administration and migration.
  • 2+ years of Postgres experience.
  • 2+ years working within HIPAA and other healthcare-related privacy regulations.


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


  • Strong work ethic: pitches in wherever needed.
  • Design, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server clusters, transactional replication, and database encryption.
  • SQL Server database design, configuration, and administration.
  • Working knowledge of change and release management processes and procedures.
  • AWS Migration and administration experience (i.e., Aurora, BabelFish)
  • Working knowledge of industry practices such as ITIL for Incident/Problem Management.
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and T-SQL.
  • Postgres Database Administration knowledge and experience.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of highly sensitive corporate information.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
