Job Description
Spalding Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist at MCAS Cherry Point at Havelock, NC. Position Type:Full-Time


Work Location:This is a remote position. (see on-site requirements below).


  • On-Site Requirements: On-boarding will require 1-2 visits to Havelock, NC for candidates that are local to the area. Candidates out of state will be onboarded virtually. Training will be virtual and telework maximized/permitted to the greatest extent possible, however for local candidates, training/tasking may require on-site work a few hours per week. Future on-site/telework requirements/schedules may change as additional client direction is received.

Essential Functions


  • Develop and implement a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data- oriented programming languages (Python, R) and visualization software such as Qlik.
  • Develop data structures and strategies uncover knowledge in data.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
  • Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets. Visualize, interpret, and report data findings.
  • Analyzes problems and determines root causes.


Required


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Experience with developing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) Processes required.
  • Experience querying databases required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience performing work related to the Job Duties/Responsibilities required.
  • Experience with analyzing data for trends and patterns required.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (SQL, R, Python) required.
  • Experience with problem-solving in a product development environment required.


Desired
  • IBM DB2, Oracle, Netezza
  • Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis desired.
  • Matlab
  • TOAD
  • Experience with visualizing/presenting data using software such as (Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI, Amazon Quick Sight) Qlik expertise preferred.
  • AWS Solutions Architect
  • DevOps Continuous Delivery Architecture, DevOps Foundations
  • AWS Big Data and native tools
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance data or within the manufacturing domain desired.
  • Experience with devising and utilizing algorithms and models to mine big-data stores desired.
  • Experience with any of the following tools:
  • Experience with TOAD desired.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering
  • Simulink
  • Experience performing data and error analysis to improve models desired.
  • Unix, Red Hat


Security Clearance


Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.


Education


BS or BA degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or Relevant Technical Discipline. Preferred. Additional years of experience may replace degree requirements.
