We are looking for an experienced data scientist to work backwards from customers, create models and develop insights, deliver impact, and drive growth to marketing optimization globally. This role will work closely with scientists and engineers to develop and run statistical models to understand customer behavior and how to efficiently plan and optimize marketing spend. You will collaborate with scientists to produce modeling solutions, partner with software developers and data engineers to build end-to-end data pipelines and production code, and have exposure to leadership as we communicate results and provide scientific guidance to the business. You will analyze large amounts of business data, automate, and scale the analysis, and develop metrics that will enable us to continually delight our customers worldwide.
Our team is seeking a self-driven data scientist with broad technical and data management skills who will identify and onboard new data sources, conduct analytics using SQL and Python, and build lightweight tools and methods for others to replicate and scale their work. You should have expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. Your solutions are testable, maintainable, and mindful of resource usage. You should be able to apply statistical methods (e.g. regression) to difficult business problems and understand these methods’ assumptions and limitations. You will need excellent business and communication skills to work with product managers and business owners on ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment to develop and define key business questions and requirements.
Responsibilities Include

• Design models and algorithms for optimizing advertising reach, frequency and return on ad spend.
• Translate business problems into specific analytical questions and form hypotheses that can be answered with available data using statistical methods or identify additional data needed in the master datasets to fill any gaps
• Keys to success in this role include exceptional analytics, statistics, judgment, and communication skills
• Work with engineers to automate science analysis processes and build scalable modeling solutions
• Partner with Data engineering team to define the data elements and data structure that the team should leverage to enable capabilities.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers and product managers to identify the highest-impact science projects to solve customer problems and formulate their corresponding technical solutions.
• Perform hands-on data analyses and modeling with huge datasets to develop insights and recommendations to inform decisions across the program
• Design, implement, and support platforms that provide business teams ad-hoc access to large datasets (eg data visualization tools for non-tech business users)

Basic Qualifications
Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience using AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, EC2, EMR and data pipelines
• 3+ years of experience working as a data scientist or a similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and communication
• 0-2 years of research experience working in statistical analysis
• 3+ years of experience using data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages e.g. Python, or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.)
• Ability to work backwards from customer needs, and distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives
• Master’s degree (or Bachelor's degree + 5 years of experience) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Computer Science
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey rigorous mathematical concepts and considerations to non-expert audience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience working as a DS or related specialty
• Experience of finding practical solutions for ambiguous an
• Experience with modelling large individual-level datasets
• Compelling communication and influencing skills and participation with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing executives
• Must have experience in Python, SQL, Stata, R and/or Scala.
• Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field with at least 4 years of working experience as a Data or Research Scientist
• Knowledge of or experience with public cloud services
• Experience in implementing machine learning models in production to support real-time inference is a plus
• Experience designing successful analytics solutions from start to finish
