Data Scientist - Azure Core Insights

As a Data Scientist on Azure Core Insights team, you will be helping design and implement anomaly detection, auto-triaging/correlation, and causal inference model to deliver preventive insights to improve Azure cloud system’s availability, reliability, and efficiency based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large language model (LLM). You will be helping drive the actions based on the insights and infuse the AI and LLM into our daily operations by working with research team, engineering team and program management team. Responsibilities

• You will understand the current state of the industry, including current trends, so that you can contribute to thought leadership best practices. You’ll also write code for a specific feature or model, and develop an understanding of proper debugging techniques. Contribute towards driving visibility into customer impacting on Virtual Machines or Containers or higher-level Azure services built on top of Virtual Machines.
• From a business perspective, you’ll learn and understand project requirements so that you can help leadership with assessments. You’ll also contribute to the development of a AI project plan.
• You will understand machine learning modeling techniques used within the team, then run model tools on prepared data set. You’ll also analyze model performance and incorporate customer feedback into its evaluation for different azure host components. You will Help design and implement anomaly detection, auto-triaging/correlation, and causal inference model, LLM prompts to deliver preventive insights to improve Azure cloud system availability, reliability, and efficiency.
• You will help with initial data collection and understand which analysis techniques are appropriate and which tools are necessary for data exploration to solve the azure availability, reliability and scalability problems. You’ll also develop a foundational understanding of methodology and standard statistical or machine learning options so that you can analyze and organize data as required.
• You will understand each partner engineering team’s technical goals and learn best practices for identifying growth opportunities. You’ll also work with partner engineering teams to integrate the Insights into Azure dev operations and Azure system for automatic system alerts, mitigation and system repairs.

Qualifications
Required/Miniumu Qualifications:

• Experience with statistics/machine learning models or LLM models including but not limited to any of the following linear/nonlinear regression, Bagged and Boosted Trees, Bayes methods, Transformer or related
• Experience with open source machine learning library, including but not limited to any of the following Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Seaborn or related
• Software development experience
• OR equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field

Other Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Familiar with Prompt Engineering in large language model and GPT models
• Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
• Basic computer science/engineering knowledge such as CPU/Memory/The Onion Router (TOR) / Load Balancer (LB) /Virtual Network (Vnet), serverless architectures and other cloud architectural patterns
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
• Familiar with data model and data visualization tools/libraries such as PowerBI, Networkx or similar
• OR equivalent experience.

Data Science IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,400 - $151,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,300 - $165,400 per year.
