Job Description

Overview

Valence Consulting is partnering with a renowned client in the Financial Services industry to fill a crucial role in their Information Technology team. Our client is in search of a mid-senior level professional to take on the role of a Cyber Blue Team Technical Lead. This position is critical for detecting, analyzing, and responding to cyber security events within the organization.


** This post is for a 12-Month W2 Contract with the potential to convert to full-time ** The position is Hybrid with 3 days on-site **


Required Skills

  • Subject matter expertise in a particular technology or security domain as well as hands-on experience and knowledge of modern security tools and DFIR best practices.
  • Demonstrated tactical leadership of teams to accomplish technical tasks and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in detecting, analyzing, and responding to cyber security events (Network events, OS Log events, and forensic information).
  • At least three (3) years of previous experience as a SOC analyst or similar role.
  • Previous experience successfully leading technical projects and complex incidents requiring collaboration with multiple people.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and mentor team members on interpreting OS log files, network logs, flow data, and other security data.


The successful candidate will report to a Cyber Blue Team Manager and will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders from other business units to conduct investigations, review plans and procedures, and respond to cyber incidents.
  • Collaborating with the Cyber Purple Team to implement content and tune security platforms.
  • Independently leading technical programs and large projects.
  • Leading and coordinating major investigations and incident response activities.
  • Occasionally traveling to conferences, training, and other Client offices (up to 10%).
  • Participating in on-call rotation and occasional after-hours work.
  • Acting as Incident Commander for serious (P2-P4) incidents.
  • Acting as an escalation point for junior team members.
  • Creating messaging, socializing your program, and evangelizing security at Client.
  • Monitoring, detecting, analyzing, researching, and responding to cyber security events including Network events, OS Log events, and forensic information.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff members.
  • Working with management and QA/QC lead to improve the overall performance of the team.
  • Performing eDiscovery and other technical tasks.
  • Participating in training, exercises, and process improvement programs.
