Zekelman Industries seeks a Customer Service Representative for our Electrical Department for our Wheatland Tube division located in Chicago, IL. Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, this person works with the electrical agent network and handles all aspects of customer service from inquiry/quote to placement of order through shipment to customer.


NATURE AND SCOPE


  • Resolve problems that arise on orders and shipments.
  • Minimum travel may be required (<5%).
  • Prepare and process orders for electrical conduit and fittings. Receive orders, check for accuracy and transmit orders to appropriate mill based on availability of product and geographic location.
  • Work with Regional Manager and Sales Representatives as necessary in handling customer requirements for House accounts.
  • Expedite orders and advise delivery time and product availability.
  • Work closely with agent warehouse personnel regarding paperwork and orders.
  • Assist Customer Service Manager as required and provide back-up for other customer service representatives.
  • Work with Shipping and Traffic department personnel to meet customer shipping requirements.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Minimum Associate Degree or 3+ years of customer service / inside sales experience. Experience in the electrical industry preferred, but not required. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Good math aptitude and excellent organizational skills. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience in SAP is a plus. Sound decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment.

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to work out of the Wheatland Tube facility in Rochelle, IL.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
  • Report any process and equipment problems and take initiative with corrections and repairs
  • Build and maintain a positive work environment for warehouse/production personnel
  • Supervise and develop team members by training, cross-training, upgrading, evaluating, reviewing and disciplining as needed
  • Ensure on-time, quality shipments to customers is achieved via the safe, efficient and economical utilization of shipping materials and hourly teammates.
  • Work with Quality Control Department regarding quality issues and ensure customer and quality standards are met at time of shipment
  • Ensure stacking and loading procedures are followed to prevent injury to team members and damage to material
  • Coordinate the assignment of labor team members to the corresponding jobs and tasks to meet warehouse/production goals
  • Document all injuries/incidents through safety incident reporting system and follow through on any corrective actions
  • Implement warehouse projects and action plans to achieve production and shipping goals
  • Direct hourly workforce using leadership skills to meet shipping goals and objectives. Issues discipline as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Communicate with sales as needed to generate improved performance
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives whereby minimizing downtime and improving production/warehouse efficiencies
  • Monitor and direct cycle counts to maintain correct inventory
  • Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through observation and team input.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse facility leading a team
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Communication Skills Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to listen and speak effectively to understand and communicate the needs of customers and team members. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write and electronically submit POs and email team members.
  • Computer Skills Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internal business application computer system. Familiarity with bar-coding management is required. SAP experience preferred but not required
  • Strong decision making, problem resolution, communication and organizational time management skills along with strong background in preventative/predictive maintenance, lean manufacturing and reliability engineering desired
  • Regular, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.
