DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In this position, you will work as part of a customer service team providing support to internal and external customers. Responsibilities will include working closely with managers, supervisors, senior inspectors, outside agencies, and the public to resolve concerns and inquiries, as they relate to Distribution System Maintenance and Operations. Utilize INFOR to research, create, update and close service requests and work orders. Coordinate staff activities; providing support and problem solving resolutions on day-to-day issues. Organize and schedule resources to meet production requirements. Conduct research on special management activities. Direct and interpret the research and analysis of customers' problems and inquiries. Act as liaison to various service lines within the department. Compile, maintain, and monitor various reports and records. Maintain electronic and hard copies of files. Assist in documentation and formulation of internal procedures and manuals. Draft correspondence; proof/edit documents for accuracy, content, and format. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management Position at the Tier III Level
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of administrative or customer service-related experience are required.
Associate's degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the years of experience.

Preference will be given to applicants who:
- Are proficient in INFOR IPS or a work order tracking system
- Perform at an advanced level in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Handle multiple assignments simultaneously, are detail-oriented, and committed to quality work
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including phone & email etiquette
- Exhibit strong attention to detail, initiative and resourcefulness.
- Adept with compiling data for reports
SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None
However, the department may administer a skills assessment test.
