About The Company
The mission of Navos is to improve the quality of life of people vulnerable to mental illness by providing a broad continuum of trauma informed care with a focus on recovery and resilience. Navos responds to the needs of people with mental illness in King County. Services are targeted to those who live at or near poverty, often as a result of their mental illness. About The Position
The Crisis Specialist provides crisis assessment, intervention and stabilization services and referral to community resources for un-enrolled adults referred for a Next Day Appointment through Crisis Connections, DCR’s and ER’s. The Crisis Specialist meets all contract requirements as identified in the King County Adult Crisis Service contract. The Crisis Specialist also provides crisis response and assessments for the Adult Outpatient Program and conducts clinical intake assessments into agency services. This is a full-time, in person, benefited position; salary DOE.
Supervision
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Position Requirements

  • Fosters healing, hopeful, honest and trusting relationships for consumers and employees; Value consumer voice, choice and self-advocacy.
  • Ensures team adheres to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPPAA requirements
  • Provides all required annual documentation to Human Resources and completes all required Relias Learning training in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates a commitment to cultural competence.
  • Completes documentation and monthly reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provides crisis assessment and stabilization services to consumers referred by Crisis Connections or DCRs as Next Day Appointments
  • Supports a system-wide understanding of trauma prevalence, impact and trauma informed care.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and other departmental meetings.
  • Follows organization infection control policies and procedures. At risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Provides outreach and discharge services to consumers placed in County Hospital Diversion Beds at Transitional Resources.
  • Adheres to MHS and Navos Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure standards. Maintains reliable attendance
  • May carry small caseload based on department need
  • Provides crisis intervention and assessment services, including outreach for Adult Outpatient Program
  • Coordinates referrals to appropriate resources in order to assist consumers in acquiring funding resources for ongoing clinical services.
  • Coordinates referrals for emergency psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Washington Administrative Code regulations

Education And/or Experience
  • Master’s degree required in Behavioral Health
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • MHP status with a minimum of one year’s experience providing crisis services to acutely and chronically mentally ill adults.
  • Demonstrated DSM diagnosis and accurate assessment skills including mental status exams, lethality and level of functioning,
  • Current Washington State Driver’s License and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS and Navos Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychotropic medications and ability to assess need for emergency medication.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite.
