Job Description
Job Responsibilities


General Responsibility


Function as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst in the South Carolina Information and Intelligence Center (SCIIC)/Fusion Center for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.


Specific Duties


  • Using open source information, criminal intelligence information, and criminal justice information, respond to requests from local, state, federal, and private sector partners. Provide any supplementary materials in the appropriate formats. Recognize patterns in criminal activity and develop written intelligence products.
  • Operate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment utilizing a variety of databases and search tools to support federal, state, and local law enforcement. Gather and organize information related to specific criminal or administrative investigations and disseminates information effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of current trends and developments in the field through training and apply pertinent new knowledge to the performance of other responsibilities. Conducts presentations on the capabilities of the SCIIC to state, local, and private sector entities.
  • Perform other criminal analytical duties as assigned.
  • Initiate special projects, working both independently and as part of a team, to gather information related to specific criminal or administrative investigations, and disseminate information effectively and efficiently. Coordinate information sharing with local, state, federal, and private sector.


Minimum And Additional Requirements


  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Publisher and ability to use computer programs.
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree. A Master's degree may be substituted for the required experience.
  • This position involves critical duties and responsibilities that must continue to be performed during crisis situations and contingency operations.
  • Must have the ability to identify trends or patterns based on the analysis of collected information.
  • Must be skilled in verbal and written communications including the preparation and presentation of products to facilitate information sharing with a variety of partners.
  • Must have two (2) years of experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting information.
  • May require extended overnight travel and rotational hours of work on occasion. This position requires periodic on-call duty. Work hours are between 1:30PM and 9:00PM.
  • Must have strong analytical skills including the ability to search a variety of databases and sources to collect and analyze information to develop an analytical report.
  • Must have the ability to locate information to assist in identifying subjects of investigations.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in intelligence analysis, using programs such as i2 Analyst Notebook, and open source research preferred.
