SALARY: The salary range for this position is $48,134.11 to $78,859.72 for Schedule A, and $48,134.11 to $74,916.73 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The Morris/Sussex Vicinage is seeking a team player who possesses strong problem solving, reasoning, technical competence, and interpersonal skills who is also committed to providing exceptional customer service to clients and a case management team. Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2B (Vicinage Civil Division Manager) and other supervisory personnel, the selected individual will perform the following functions: prepare court orders; analyze, monitor and process cases from intake through disposition in the civil or special civil part; recommend strategies for case progression and meeting case management goals; participate in team/work unit meetings; advise judges and/or management on case issues; review court activities for compliance with procedures, laws, court rules or administrative directives; prepare and review trial calendars; call the calendar; monitor outcomes and cases to ensure compliance with discovery deadlines and case management orders; organize work to ensure efficiency; communicate regularly with judges, attorneys, self-represented litigants; recommend civil complementary dispute resolution programs (arbitration, mediation, settlement events); conduct pre court conferences; oversee electronic filing systems and advise others on technical issues; prepare technical, statistical, financial, review or evaluation reports; moderate court proceedings via audio visual programs such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams; and perform other duties as required.
  • Although this position is based in the Morris County Courthouse (Morristown, NJ), travel to the Sussex County Judicial Center (Newton, NJ) and other Judiciary locations may be required.****
REMOTE WORK : The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
Example of Duties
  • IF APPLICABLE** The selected candidate will be required to work a non-traditional work week, which will include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and after hours on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Education Note: Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service. (See www.naces.org/members.html )
Experience: One year of paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing and verifying case-related information which shall have included one or more of the following: conducting investigations, monitoring casework flow, interviewing clients or customers for needed information, preparing investigative fact-finding reports and/or writing case notes or other case-related correspondence.
Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
Supplemental Information
Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
