THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer is seeking a highly motivated and dependable Corrections Stock Clerk to join our amazing staff.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Stock Clerk for the DOC, you handle the receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory control activities for a variety of stock items and supplies for SCI Mercer.

Responsibilities include inventorying stock and receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and raw materials. You also train and monitor inmate workers in the receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory control activities for a variety of stock items and supplies. In addition, you prepare routine reports and operate motor vehicles, forklifts, or hand trucks to move oversized or heavy items, remove scrap materials, or make deliveries.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,664 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of stockroom, warehouse, retail sales, or clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Necessary Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
