Job Description
THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is seeking an energetic, motivated person with experience in the food service industry to join our team as a Food Service Manager 1.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Food Service Manager, you will be directly responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a complete large-scale food service operation, or assisting a Corrections Food Service Manager 2 at a larger correctional facility. You will be managing food preparation, production, serving, and sanitation. You will also be overseeing and providing direction to staff including corrections food service supervisors, instructors, and inmate workers. You will be responsible for developing and modifying menus and managing the food service operation budget.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55..
  • Full-time employment; 40 hours/week.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Four years of paraprofessional experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation, which includes one year of supervisory experience; or
  • One year of experience as a Corrections Food Service Supervisor; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of supervisory experience in food preparation, production, or service.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
