Finance Department Profile

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators and serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (Corporate FP&A) is responsible for providing Senior Management with strategic analyses of the Firm's global businesses, the Firm's annual budget, and other related financial information utilized in strategic decision-making. Corporate FP&A is also responsible for reporting financial forecasts and related analyses to various stakeholders, including the Firm's regulators. Additionally, the department collaborates closely with business segment FP&A and reporting teams, Corporate Treasury, and the Risk Department on various aspects of its deliverables.

The team is seeking a talented VP to focus on Corporate FP&A's CCAR Balance Sheet Forecasting and Analytics. This position provides a unique opportunity to obtain detailed knowledge and related expertise of significant aspects of the Firm's global businesses.

Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with partner teams (e.g., Capital, business aligned FP&A, Treasury, Product Control) to drive successful outcomes
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses and projects as required
  • Analyze forecasting models, resource sensitivities, and strategic initiatives
  • Help lead the processes to coordinate, aggregate, review and analyze the Firm's balance sheet forecasting processes (e.g., Annual CCAR, Quarterly Stress Testing, Management Forecasting, Budgeting)
  • Produce Balance Sheet reporting and analytics in support of Firm resource management discussions (e.g., ALCO, RWA)

Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills, including ability to summarize complex business problems and detailed analyses with clarity and brevity
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and client service skills
  • Significant prior experience analyzing Balance Sheet data, CCAR experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with technology-enabled forecasting and data visualization tools a plus (e.g., Planning & Analytics, Essbase, Hyperion, Power BI, Tableau)
  • 7 - 12 years of experience in financial services, financial planning and analysis, product control, financial analytics, or capital planning, including performing regulatory financial forecasts and providing financial analyses that highlight key drivers and dependencies impacting results
  • Adept at working independently in a fast-paced environment and handling complexity and ambiguity
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred; MBA, CPA and/or CFA is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize and manage multiple deliverables

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 120,000 and 200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.

Morgan Stanley's goal is to build and maintain a workforce that is diverse in experience and background but uniform in reflecting our standards of integrity and excellence. Consequently, our recruiting efforts reflect our desire to attract and retain the best and brightest from all talent pools. We want to be the first choice for prospective employees.

It is the policy of the Firm to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, age, sex, sex stereotype, gender, gender identity or expression, transgender, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, disability, marital and civil partnership/union status, pregnancy, veteran or military service status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
