Job Description
General Description


  • The Controller is responsible implementation and maintenance of accounting systems for the control of Tyonek Native Corporation assets and the preparation of complete and accurate financial information/records.


DUTIES


  • Establish and maintain appropriate accounting systems to provide complete, timely, and accurate financial information for a multi-subsidiary company.
  • Oversight and understanding of inter-company charging and reconciliation process. Ensure intercompany elimination entries comply with GAAP.
  • Advanced understanding of and manages to ensure Accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, Accounts receivable are collected promptly, and Payroll is processed in a timely manner, Bank reconciliations are completed, Debt payments are made on time, and Maintains a chart of accounts.
  • Knowledge and practical application of ASC-606 guidelines.
  • Ensures all accounting processes, transactions and accounting information are managed in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensures monthly financial reports, projections, analysis, and variance reports are provided to department heads and executive management on a timely basis.
  • Manage completion of all government required reporting, such as U.S. Census Surveys, Corporate Tax Returns, etc.
  • Understanding of sales & use tax/property tax reporting. Ensure accurate tax accounting and financial reporting.
  • Manages and directs the accounting department. Ensures that the department works closely together to affect a smooth, efficient financial operation. Builds and maintains a top tier cohesive accounting team.
  • Manage completion of the annual Incurred Cost Submission (ICE) in a timely fashion.
  • Provide timely, complete, and accurate financial reports and analyses for presentation to Management and the Boards of Directors.
  • Responsible for compliance with all federal regulations including but not limited to FAR/DCAA/DCMA/CAS. Ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Maintain financial policies and procedures and other internal controls to provide for the control and safeguard of assets.
  • Oversight and understanding of complex indirect pool structures and incurred cost reporting. Create provisional rates for pricing and invoicing.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
  • Ensures adequate controls are in place, and acts as liaison with audit firm and DCAA to ensure appropriate and complete information is provided for annual audits. Ensures the timely and accurate preparation of the annual audit schedules, journals, account reconciliations and tax schedules as needed for audit preparation and compliance with tax and regulatory authorities.


Eduction/Experience Requirements


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in cost accounting
  • Knowledge and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and government contracting,
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • BS/BA in Accounting required
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Controller for a government contractor required
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Advanced Deltek CostPoint experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively with executive management, project managers and employees
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in auditing
  • Master's degree in accounting or CPA required
  • Excellent human relations skills with 5 years' experience leading a team of 5 or more
