Control Management (CM)


CM maintains a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model that align managers with each line of business, function and region to mitigate operational risk. The team focuses on four areas: Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issue Management, and Control Governance & Reporting


Seeking an experienced Senior Associate to play a role in the strategy and execution of Control Management objectives. This role resides within the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Control Management Organization and reports to the Control Management Executive Director.


The Senior Associate will be responsible for supporting Control Management strategic programs and governance, including but not limited to, Risk Events, Control Committees, Keys, and Quality.


Job Responsibilities
  • Project Management
  • Governance
  • Assist in maintaining CM Leadership governance and CM program governance
  • Act as project manager for strategic projects related to the uplift and efficiency of CM programs: Risk Events, Control Committees, Keys, and Quality
  • Propel initiatives related to best practices, lessons learned, and improved quality
  • Maintain and enhance firmwide documentation for CM Programs including Firmwide Procedures, templates, artifacts, Share Points
  • Create / maintain roadmap of CM Strategic Initiatives and Programs by partnering with workstream / program leads to determine and map milestones


Required Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills
  • Work independently as well as part of a team; flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manages competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and able to work in a fast-paced, results oriented environment
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, owning the issues and having the determination to follow tasks/issues through and ability to develop structure and solve problems in a pragmatic and balanced way; solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate appropriate conclusions
  • Problem solving:
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written; ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Training / Guidance Writing (e.g., develop procedures, templates and guidance)
  • 5-7 years of experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, or compliance preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business-related function/operation
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Networking - exceptional interpersonal skills; exceptional collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment and to work in a matrixed environment
  • Leadership and Influencing skills - Takes ownership and is accountable for area of responsibility
  • High level of professionalism, detail oriented, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Work autonomously to affect change:
  • Business knowledge: Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to provide guidance on governance of the operational risk and control environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel) and SharePoint required
  • Communication / Presentation:
  • Develop positive working relationships to maintain an open environment for collaboration
