This is a hybrid work position which includes a mix of virtual and in-office work. The position also requires frequent travel for face-to-face meetings with donors and other constituents.


What You Need To Know


We are looking for a Regional Philanthropy Officer who will meet fundraising goals and objectives and connect with our Corporate donors to serve our mission. In this role, you will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective regional donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross.


The salary range for this position is $70,000. You will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance.

Where Your Career Is a Force Good


We are seeking a Regional Philanthropy Officer in the Oklahoma City area to serve our community and support our lifesaving services. These mission-critical roles serve as the key steward for a portfolio of current and prospective philanthropists in support of the American Red Cross.


  • Fundraising Targets and Portfolio Management: Manages an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects with intent to form deep relationships. Responsible for minimum annual fundraising goal tied to Oklahoma City corporate portfolio. Develop donor management plans for entire portfolio resulting in strategic, knowledgeable, and complex asks. Personally solicit assigned donor portfolio through face-to-face visits, including preparation of personalized materials.
  • Relationship Development: Cultivates, solicits and stewards support from corporations and foundations to meet annual fundraising goals within their Regions. This includes assisting corporations in achieving their goals in strengthening their brand, marketing, and employee engagement by being proficient at clearly articulating Red Cross programs, listening to corporations’ needs and aligning programs to their interests, preparing grant proposals, and engaging foundation staff and foundation board members to cultivate and solicit support for the American Red Cross.
  • Other: Participates in disaster relief and fundraising projects as appropriate. Work with the development team to support the work within the Kansas and Oklahoma region.
  • Strategy: Develops and executes ongoing strategy for qualifying corporate donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions as well as recapture from lapsed donors. Works collaboratively with other departments and partners with development staff at the National Office to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and interests of the donor/prospect.
  • Prospect Development: Implements programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $5,000 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross. Works with community Board members and other leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate donors. Updates donor records and company databases in a timely and accurate manner.


This position will report to the Regional Chief Development Officer.


What You Need To Succeed


  • Minimum five years of sales and/or fundraising experience required.
  • Proven experience in developing strategies for donor retention, growth, and recapture, and proven success with complex requests is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Travel: Frequent travel within the Oklahoma City area is needed.
  • A current valid driver's license and a good driving record is required.
  • Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
