BLURB & BENEFITS Job Summary


In collaboration with the Executive Director, plans, organizes, develops and directs the transportation program for the community. Maintains role as resident advocate with a focus on the community’s mission. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Participates in orientation of new staff.
  • Is a motivated, independent individual who can organize workload so that all functions are completed appropriately.

  • Assist in preparation of the Emergency Preparation Handbook and update current information as needed.
  • Maintain the neat and clean appearance of the van both interior and exterior.
  • Check the van for needed repairs and coordinate with the Executive Director on arrangements to have repair/routine maintenance services.
  • Read and study the Emergency Preparation Handbook and provide feedback on issues of concern.
  • Consistently follows the policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Possesses personal qualities such as dependability (includes attendance and punctuality), kindness, compassion, understanding, interest, respect for residents as individuals, integrity, loyalty, and sense of humor.
  • Record issues concerning residents and family members and communicate with the Executive Director.
  • Logs residents and staff that are on the bus and leaves info with the Concierge
  • Demonstrates ability to remain calm in emergency and/or stressful situations and gives everyone a feeling of confidence that station is under control.
  • Emotionally stable, tactful, and poised.
  • Ensures that resident information log is current and on the bus for any emergencies
  • Meet weekly with the activity team to develop a plan for the activity schedule.
  • Exhibits genuine interest in and appreciation of adults in later years of life.
  • Common sense and good judgement
  • Assist in proper admission, transfer, and discharge of residents and uses proper body mechanics at all times.
  • Manage the handicap ramp and load residents according to safety guidelines.
  • Transport residents to; medical appointments, shopping trips, adventure rides, etc. safely.


Professional Requirements


  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains resident confidentiality at all times.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
  • Attends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled.
  • Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.


Regulatory Requirements


  • High School education preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Previous experience with geriatric clients preferred
  • Current certification in 1st Aid (Basic knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering basic first aid and resident care QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Neat, clean, well-groomed and responsible
  • Completion of training program for certification(CNA PREFERRED NOT REQUIRED)
  • Valid Chauffer’s license
  • Must have upper body strength adequate to bend, lift, shift, move, and/or assist in moving articles of more than 75 pounds.
  • Must have a valid state issued driver’s license in good standing with DMV
  • Good physical and mental health in compliance with state and local requirements
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and positive attitude toward the elderly
  • Must be able to squat, reach, and stretch without distress.
  • Current CPR certification


Must be able to tolerate extended periods of standing and walking. Language Skills:


  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
