Job Description

Job Opening Summary

Essential (Primary) Functions: The primary responsibility of the cook is to provide the highest quality of service to the customers at all times. Responsibilities include following recipes and production sheets for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments. The food preparation will include operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and weigh ingredients; washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables; and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use. In addition, the cook may be expected to taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, assess production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment. Additionally, the cook may prepare baked items, move/lift food supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets. The cook cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment. The cook must understand and adhere to all safety and food-handling requirements of UF Health Central Florida and local, state and federal jurisdictions.
Non-essential duties may include filling in for other positions within the department. Other duties may be assigned by lead, supervisor or manager.
