Job Description

Overview:

Responsibilities:


Develop and maintain company-wide accounting and reporting policies and procedures. Oversee the global consolidated accounting operations of FM Global including the reporting of financial matters for FMIC and subsidiaries and producing all necessary financial reporting and analysis including OP&L reports (operational/segment reporting). Attend Audit Committee meetings to discuss financial statement and other accounting and reporting issues. Analyze financial results and provide management with an understanding of the company’s performance.

Establish accounting procedures, practices and principles for FMIC and subsidiaries.
Oversee the maintenance of all accounting records for FMIC and subsidiaries.
Oversee the global consolidated accounting operations of FM Global including the reporting of financial matters for FMIC and subsidiaries and producing all necessary financial reporting and analysis.
Ensure that financial and accounting controls comply with regulatory requirements and are in compliance with accounting oversight for GAAP & SAP.
Liaise with various departments including the Strategy and Business Enablement team to ensure that finance projects are appropriately prioritized.
Coordinate the external audits (GAAP and SAP) and ensure that all auditor inquiries are responded to accurately and in a timely fashion.
Manage ad hoc finance projects as required.
Oversee the development of continuing and discontinued loss detail used by the actuaries for their annual loss reserve certification.
Occasional travel will be required in relation to Board activities for subsidiaries including FM Global de Mexico, REICL, NPML and Watch Hill.

Qualifications:

  • Strong business ethics and integrity; leads by example
  • Strong accounting and finance skills
  • Accounting professional certification (i.e. CPA or equivalent)
  • Strong team leadership skills and results orientation
  • Extensive management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting required Graduate Degree preferred
  • Ability to work independently and lead others in a demanding, fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to motivate others in a deadline driven environment and foster acceptance of change
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • 10 plus years of experience in public accounting and ideally in the insurance industry
