Job Description

Our client is a leading distributor of high-quality building materials. They are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Controller to join their team in Pennsauken, New Jersey


This is an on-site role; local candidates only in Pennsauken, NJ.


Responsibilities

  • Manage cash flow and banking relationships, including overseeing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Prepare and review tax filings and work with external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the payroll team and ensure compliance with payroll processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for business initiatives and projects.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to senior management.
  • Provide oversight and support to accounting functions in additional business operations with shared ownership.
  • Manage the budget and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including the monthly close process, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation.


Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in the building materials or construction industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage a team and develop talent.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
