Job Summary:

The Controller reports to the VP- Finance and is responsible for all accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial statements, budgets, cash forecasts, and file maintenance for applicable entities. Results oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers, subcontractors/vendors, and employees. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Supervisory Duties:

Requirements:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reports accurate & timely financials (I/S, B/S, Cash Flow) in accordance with GAAP.
  • Overseeing the collections of past-due invoices and ensuring that the DSO is reasonable and not stretching out; onboard new customers; ensure set up properly in the systems for their first invoices and we have the appropriate contacts in the system.
  • Identifies the key financial levers and key performance indicators to establish and lead a metrics-driven financial model to measure results and support decision-making most effectively.
  • Leads in the continued development of KPIs while working closely with operations leadership and each client to drive critically important analytics and decision making to achieve profitable growth.
  • Responsible for monthly, yearend closing of the books, audit, and timely reporting.
  • Directs robust financial planning and analysis activity, to include the monthly, quarterly and annual planning and forecasting process, while working collaboratively with the corporate management team.
  • Responsible for all financial activities including accounting, billing, credit/collections, document management, payroll, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, cash flow and working capital management, banking, regulatory reports, and risk management.
  • Formalizes and manages monthly close, ensuring all expenses and revenues are recognized accordingly, provides KPIs for the team and executives, prepares balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Develops and leads a team in guiding business decisions, through strategic thought leadership and financial analysis.
  • Manages A/P, A/R, General Ledger, Financial Reporting, and Billing; understanding the reporting and properly allocating within the books to the appropriate general ledger accounts.)
  • Managing all facets of financial and accounting reporting.

Background Preferred (but not required):

  • Transportation & Logistics industry experience
  • Graduate Education: MBA or Masters (Finance or Accounting)
  • Application of technology: TMS, WMS, Advanced Excel and PowerBI
  • Public Accounting

Other essential abilities and skills:

  • Highly analytical with strategic focus
  • Results driven.
  • Strategic approach to finance and accounting (i.e., utilization of LOC and Tax implications)
  • Good communicator at all levels of organization (written, verbal)
  • Mentorship of staff and developing talent

Compensation structure:

  • Bonus potential: TBD or Discretionary
  • Base salary target: Up to $150,000
  • Allowances: laptop, cell phone, medical benefits, 401k
