Since 1987, the team at Cafe Valley has produced muffins, bundt cakes, ring cakes, loaf cakes, danishes, turnovers, croissants, and our signature Cafe Bites for our customers throughout the United States and across the world. Demand for our products have grown to the extent that our state-of-the-art, Phoenix, AZ production facility built in 2011 was joined by our Marion, IN production facility in 2014. Through innovative bakery techniques and unique recipes, we continue to delight one bite at a time.
This position will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations including related projects and yearly audits. Daily operations include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory Accounting, Fixed Assets, Credit, Cash Management and General Ledger. This position will also be responsible for all treasury operations.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide mentoring and development of accounting staff
  • May assist the CFO and Accounting functions as necessary
  • Review and approve necessary Government Required Surveys
  • Conduct Financial Analysis as needed
  • Responsible for all aspects of company ERP system, including setup of new customers, vendors
  • Oversight of year-end close processing
  • Responsible for all general day to day accounting matters
  • Hold signature authority
  • Work with Sales/Supply Chain Services on any accounts payable and receivable issues
  • Provide direct supervision of accounting staff, including annual performance reviews
  • Manage regular, required bank reporting including borrowing base calculation
  • Works closely with the CFO on all aspects of month-end and quarter-end reporting
  • Approve customer credit terms
  • Coordinate and act as liaison to auditors and banking institutions
  • Participates in periodic meetings to discuss company-wide topics and lead department in any related initiatives
  • Implements and enforces new policies, procedures, and system upgrades
  • Responsible for review of any changes to accounting procedures and work instructions
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting procedures
  • Responsible for oversight of month-end close; ensure accurate balance sheet account reconciliations, adequate supporting documentation and ensure timely reporting
Qualifications
  • Excellent teamwork
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong Knowledge and understanding of GAAP required
  • Experience managing diverse teams, including skills in coaching, mentoring, and developing others
  • 10+ years relevant experience, at least five of which is in a manufacturing setting; preferably food and beverage
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business
  • Some knowledge and experience in systems thinking – understanding the whole and its related parts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral
  • CPA required
  • An understanding of cost and managerial accounting also desired
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a hands-on way to understand the various components of the accounting function
  • Working knowledge of all daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting functions
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are key
