POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for negotiating and writing contracts for services with outside vendors in a regulated environment. An adaptable, strong communicator who can build professional networks while influencing business decisions will be successful in this role. Project management and/or construction/field experience is beneficial. Write modifications to existing contracts and work with the Legal department as necessary to protect the interest of AEP. Understands each party’s interests in contractual negotiations and offers solutions to requested changes. While this position does not represent AEP as legal counsel, having a JD or a legal background is preferred. Demonstrates the ability to work beyond routine assignments by solving problems of moderate complexity. This position is set in an office environment, working collaboratively with co-workers and requires very good written and verbal communication skills and excellent organization.

We work a 4-10 schedule Monday through Thursday with the option of one work from home day.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in the development of competitive bid packages, bid evaluations, scope definition, notifications, etc.
• Write modifications to existing agreements using various models.
• Enjoy detail focused, problem solving tasks.
• Lead the negotiation process through strategy development, issue recognition, and escalation of issues.
• Leads in the preparation and presentation of contracts and resolving contract related issues.
• Manage vendor communications involving moderately complex contract negotiations and dispute resolutions.
• Understanding the legal risk to requested modifications to standard terms and conditions and being able to communicate them to plant personnel and management in a clear concise manner.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONTRACT ANALYST:

Education requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field of study.

Work Experience Requirement:

• Minimum of one (1) year of related contract and/or supply chain experience.
• Juris Doctorate is preferred.
• Project Management experience is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field of study.

Work Experience Requirement:

• Minimum of four (4) years of related contract and/or supply chain experience or related experience in work activities and projects.
• Juris Doctorate is preferred.
• Project Management experience is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field of study.

Work Experience requirement listed below:

• Project Management experience is a plus.
• Juris Doctorate is preferred.
• Minimum of six (6) years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of Contracting principles.
