Job Description
Announcement Information

Part-time Non-Eligible employees are not part of the Oakland County Merit System. These positions are limited to 1,000 hours per calendar year and are not eligible for benefits. A closing notice may be posted when a sufficient number of applications have been received to meet current needs.

Job Summary

A Contingent Staff Nurse is employed on a part-time basis (less than 1,000 hours per year) and is not eligible for County benefits. Assignment of work dates, shifts and call-ins to work include weekend and holiday work. Due to nature of the operation, employees may be required to work overtime.
Performs health appraisal on assigned patients, observes the patient's condition and reports any changes or reactions to medications or treatments. Documents observations on the patient's record and schedules and prepares patients for, or assists in the administration of physical examinations. Must be willing to work day or afternoon shifts that routinely run from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., although other shifts and hours may be assigned to ensure smooth running or emergency operations. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Copy of License as a Registered Nurse by the Michigan Board of Nursing

At time of application, applicant must

1. Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

2. Have had at least six (6) months of full-time nursing experience.

3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.
NOTE: Applicants with criminal convictions of an abusive nature may not be certified to areas covered under the Health Financing Administration Regulations (42CFR 483.13C).

Special Requirements

1. Must maintain a current license or permit to function as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.

2. Must submit annually to immunizations as well as a tuberculin skin test and/or chest x?ray, at County expense.

3. Must obtain and maintain current Cardiopulmonary Respiratory (CPR) Certification.

4. Before beginning employment candidates will be required to provide Children's Village with documentation from the Michigan Department of Human Services that they have not been named in a central registry case as the perpetrator of child abuse or child neglect. In addition, applicants being considered for hire will be asked to sign a form authorizing Children's Village to request and receive a criminal history check in accordance with the privacy act of 1974.

Applicants for positions at Children's Village will not be considered if they have been convicted of either of the following:
(a) Child Abuse or Neglect
(b) A felony involving harm or threatened harm to an individual within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of hire.
