Pay Rate 
  • $31.79 per hour - $51.02 per hour, based on experience

This position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law. 
  • Recognize potential legal/risk management problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Act as an expert resource in emergency situations.
  • Provide specialized and non-routine nursing care for patients in critical care
  • Incorporate environmental and safety practices into daily care.
  • Demonstrate competency in critical care skills and specialty procedures.
  • Units, general care units, and specialty procedure settings.
  • Participate in research and evaluation activities.
  • Participate in activities to improve patient care with a house-wide perspective.
  • Participate in activities to meet department, service, and divisional goals.
  • Coordinate short-term plans of care for patients with non-routine and/or highly specialized care needs.
  • Maintain scheduling flexibility to meet program needs.
  • Participate actively in house-wide educational activities.
  • Reinforce patient/family education and provide information as the situation warrants.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
  • Assume responsibility for the short-term coordination and management of care for specific patients during emergencies, specialty procedures, and post-operative recovery.
  • Provide expert nursing assessment for non-routine/highly complex patients in critical care units and in specialty procedure settings.
  • Act as a resource in the organization of patient and program activities.
  • Demonstrate guest relations skills consistently.
  • Identify trends or variances in the effectiveness of care for non-routine/highly complex patients.
  • Identify issues impacting patient care and patient care programs and offer suggestions for resolution.
  • Demonstrate applied critical care knowledge base to a variety of specialty settings.
Supervision Received 
Supervision is received from the House Manager
Supervision Exercised 
Functional supervision may be exercised over nursing and support staff. 
Required Qualifications 
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
Two (2) years of RN experience in a critical care or emergency hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Additional licensure/certifications requirements as determined by the hiring department.
  • ICU or PACU experience
Physical Demands 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holidays and work during inclement weather will be required.
