Construction Materials Testing Lab Technician:

We have an opportunity for a Materials Lab and Field Technician to join our team in Galveston, Texas. Our Materials Lab Technicians will learn to obtain and process samples for materials such as soils, concrete, and aggregate. You will communicate with Laboratory Manager, Management, Client representatives, contractor's representatives, and other key stakeholders regarding testing results. Our Field technicians will learn how to sample concrete, use a density gauge, test masonry grout and mortar, and much more.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all testing equipment and tools are properly maintained.
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Reports any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Document and prepare sample testing and observation data using a laptop or desktop computer; submit findings accurately to a Lab Manager or the Management Team.
• Maintains quality standards on all projects.
• Effectively communicate testing and inspection results.
• Under direction of senior technicians, lab manager or management, learns and assists with tasks, and obtain and process soils, aggregates and concrete.
• Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history

Preferred Requirements:

• Current industry certifications for materials testing a plus, but not required
• Related work experience in construction helpful, but not required

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
