Job Summary
The College of Lake County Foundation, a 501c3 institutionally related foundation, cultivates gifts to support capital projects, programs, and scholarships for students enrolled at the College of Lake County. Under the direct supervision of the College of Lake County Foundation’s executive director, the Community Giving Manager is the foundation’s annual giving officer, and responsible for managing multiple constituencies and maximizing their contributions to the foundation’s Annual Fund (Scholarships and Grants Fund).
Responsibilities include managing the our Scholarship Giving Program and the Annual Fund, engaging our Alumni Ambassadors program, planning and supervising all major fundraising events, and supervising all stewardship and communications. This position also manages the development associate whose work focuses on assisting with event planning, stewardship, and advancement communications.

Required Qualification
EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
  • Demonstrated track record of setting and meeting/exceeding fund raising goals within expected time period.
  • Previous experience supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Previous experience using constituency management software such as Raiser’s Edge, Prospect Research On-line, Wealth Engine, etc.
  • Accomplished professional with a minimum of five (5) years in implementing a fund raising program including phone-a-thon, solicitations with volunteers, personal solicitation, letter appeals, and proposals, preferably in an academic setting.
Skill Requirements
  • Ability to manage and maintain confidential data.
  • High level of analytical, organizational, managerial, administrative, communication, writing, and sales/fund raising skills. (Proficient with both words and numbers).
  • Proven ability to work effectively with individuals and teams from diverse backgrounds and professional responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Strong project management, problem solving, and decision making skills.
  • Adheres to Association of Fund Raising Professionals ( AFP ) code of ethics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of staff and external customers.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and multi-task.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Master degree preferred.
  • Certified Fundraising Executive or on path to achieve CFRE .

  • Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Hours will vary daily. Some nights and weekends required (events, board meetings, and donor visits).
Some out of district travel is required.

Summary Of Essential Functions
Student/Customer Service (10%)
  • Develops relationships within the college, with key academic and program partners, including the president’s office, and serves as the foundation’s representative to internal individuals and groups RE: annual giving.
  • Alumni Ambassadors Program: Hold quarterly Alumni Ambassador meetings, in person or electronically, to engage strategic affinity groups for the Foundation.
Personnel Management (10%)
  • Serve as a resource for the Events Committee for the CLC Foundation Board
  • Supervise the Development Associate. This includes insuring timely delivery of their work, monthly one-on-one meetings, annual reviews, and supervision of professional development.
Project and Process Management (75%)
  • Develop engagement strategies for all major annual giving constituencies: donors, alumni, employees, retirees, and community members. The focus of engagement is on annual fundraising, and all constituencies are seen as annual giving segments.
  • Prepares annual fundraising strategy documents that focuses their work, and the work of the foundation, on effective annual giving and scholarship fundraising.
  • Annual Scholarship Brunch
  • Annual Retirees Luncheon
  • Serves as a leader, mentor, and guide to the foundation team on all matters relating to annual giving and scholarship stewardship.
  • Annual Golf Scholarship Classic
  • Other Events
  • Serve as the primary organizer of annual Fundraising Events, with the help of other support staff and foundation team members. This includes budgeting, planning, day-of-event management, and follow-up reporting.
  • Attends and contributes to bi-weekly team meetings.
  • Annual Employee Giving Campaign
  • Manage the foundation’s annual direct mail program, which currently includes two major annual mailings, plus corresponding electronic outreach (email and social media). This includes creating solicitation lists in conjunction with the prospect management coordinator, developing solicitation devices, managing vendors, and reporting on results.
