Community Builder (South Africa)

We are looking for aCommunity Builderto help us develop and maintain and activate the South African community by identifying the right opportunities to form beneficial connections with other South African businesses/organizations, subject matter experts, institutions, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

You will be in charge of developing and implementing the company’s engagement strategy, spearheading the discussions in relevant groups and forums, scheduling interviews and podcasts, and leveraging social media to position our company as a thought leader amongst the African diaspora.You’ll also be responsible for organizing virtual and physical events to help us build and maintain relationships with the community.

A perfect candidate is adept at networking, knows how to interact with stakeholders, and is able to keep high levels of engagement within our community as well as stimulate its growth to attract new community members using the appropriate content, live video panels, and other methods.

• Facilitate direct communication with target groups using effective networking
• Build and nurture relationships with other businesses, subject matter experts, thought leaders, existing community members, and other stakeholders
• Develop and execute creative engagement tactics and strategies
• Work with our marketing and PR teams to assist with the implementation of programs, activities, and other initiatives that contribute to growing a community and raising awareness of our brand
• Create and implement community network plans taking into account planned objectives
• Promote and organize virtual and physical events using community-building tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Development, Journalism, Sociology, Psychology, or related field
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to identify, analyze, develop, and maintain partnerships that benefit the community and company
• 3+ years of experience in community development and outreach (organizing virtual communities is preferred)
• South African Citizens living in New York will be highly advantageous
