Stanford Engineering’s Communications & Alumni Affairs team is made up of experts in clear, compelling communication that engages audiences, promotes the world-changing work of our researchers and educators, and amplifies the school’s highest reputation. Our communications span a variety of media and platforms, including news, podcast, digital publications, video, social media and events, reaching a broad audience of Stanford Engineering’s faculty, staff and students, our 75,000 graduate alumni, and the world.

Your Responsibilities Include
  • Assist in the development of media pitches, advisories and other content for a variety of Stanford Engineering channels.
  • Work with the administrative team to set up vendors for payment and to process vendor/freelancer invoices.
  • Input media metrics to various tracking documents and dashboards for regular reporting.
  • Assist in the development of podcast-related and other social media content.
  • Review general web contact form inquiries and route to appropriate resolution.
  • Assist in the production of Stanford Engineering’s The Future of Everything podcast. Support guest booking and scheduling/coordination; creating and reviewing transcripts and show notes; reviewing edited audio and video files of each episode; uploading new episodes to select platforms; and additional tasks as needed.
  • Represent the Stanford Engineering communications team at training events and meetings with colleagues across the school and campus, to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Provide general cross-functional support to the School of Engineering communications team, including coordinating (scheduling, facilitating, tracking, etc) podcast and media relations activities, facilitating publication of digital content, tracking and reporting analytics, managing communications software platforms, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct media monitoring and tracking, curating news for internal reporting, drafting media lists and briefings, staffing media interviews as needed, attending university-wide media relations meetings and collaborating with partners across campus.
  • Assist communications team with project management on software platforms such as: Marketo, Gather Content, Dashlane, Google Drive, Asana, Muck Rack and others. Facilitate editorial projects from draft to publication, update and maintain shared editorial calendar, manage/organize shared documents, update websites, and compile media contact lists and briefings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the selection of photography, videos and other graphics for story illustrations, social media posts and other content. Occasional photo/video editing.
Education & Experience (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required)
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • May demonstrate proficiency and creative or technical ability in a particular field.
  • Demonstrated planning and/or project management and organizational skills.
  • Certifications and Licenses: None required
  • Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid-eligible role with expectation for working on site Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Occasional work on evenings and weekends.

Pay Range
The expected pay range for this position is $69,000 to $85,000 per annum.
Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
