Join our Color and Material Mastering Designer team to set the vision for the development and direction of interior, exterior, color and material designs for Ford and Lincoln Programs. We are seeking designers that thrive in a fast-paced environments to deliver impactful designs, designers that create innovative designs that impact human centric thinking, have a strong design leadership, and positive problem-solving skills.

This position will be located in Dearborn, MI.


What you’ll be able to do:

  • Procure and track Purchase Orders related to master developments.
  • Work with other Color & Material Designers to strategize and deliver color correct textiles, paints, threads, vinyl to support ongoing and future programs.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive successful global relationships with both internal, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Create and validate color, texture, gloss and finish masters in various materials (i.e. Leather, Vinyl, Plastic, Paint, etc.) and establish the Design Intent.
  • Develop and guide color and material designs/masters through the creation and definition of physical, digital samples for use in concept and production vehicles.
  • Supports all program timing, ensuring program and project deliverables are met within the program targets.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ year of experience required in automotive/industrial/mobility color and material design or development including work in product design, textile design, Color Development Quality Control
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Industrial Design, Fine Arts, Interior Design, Color Science or equivalent with specialization in fashion, textiles or related field dealing with color.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong, demonstrated understanding of color theory (hue, value, chroma, etc.).
  • Expertise and knowledge of Color Application across materials including but not limited to plastic, paint, vinyl, fabric, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate color evaluation and corrective direction with cross functional teams.
  • Must be self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to multi-task.
  • Working level knowledge of fabrics and trims associated with the development process.
  • Proficient in Adobe Suit tools (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, VRED) and Microsoft Suit tools (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel).
