Come join us! Essential Function: The College and Career Counselor (CCC) will work in the high school school counseling office and will be a member of that department. The CCC will lead all aspects of career exploration, selection and preparation, college exploration, selection, application and transition, and career and college event planning. In support of, and in cooperation with school counselors, the CCC will ensure that every FRCS student has a post secondary plan, and has begun the transition to that plan. Responsibilities: Career awareness Utilize Career and Aptitude Assessments (Mass Career Info Systems, Naviance, etc.) to support student's personal and career planning Engage students in community service learning opportunities Promote the connection between classroom learning and work/careers Career exploration Plan, organize and lead career exploration and preparation events such as career fair/interview contest, industry/trade expo, and other events as appropriate Engage students in their job searches, developing quality resumes, interviewing, and employer research strategies Connect students with employment and experiential learning opportunities Senior Independent Enrichment courses Develop and maintain relationships with employers, community members, and organizations for the purpose of building resources and expanding program opportunities for students Develop and implement an internship/work based learning program for the 2024-2025 school year. Connect students with appropriate internship opportunities based on their career interests. College exploration and selection In conjunction with the school counselors, Aid students and caregivers in all stages of the college exploration, selection and application processes with an emphasis on the support of families for whom the process is a new endeavor Assist students and families in navigating the financial aid process, organize events for families focused on understanding college financial aid Lead advisory classes 9-12 for all post-secondary planning elements Oversee students’ introduction to, and use of Naviance through all stages of the college process Liaise with English teachers to aid students in the completion of college application essays
