Purpose of the Position
- Prepares instructional manuscripts, process tapes, and instructions for the preparation of tapes/thumb drives in computers.
- Performs CNC programming to achieve quality, productivity, schedule performance, cost and system compliance.
- Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a Computer Numerically Control (CNC) machine. Maintains quality and safety standards, records, equipment, and supplies.
- Analyzes complex manufacturing drawings to develop and prepare process-part programs for multi-axis machining operations for any type of CNC-controlled machine tool to achieve customer requirements, including Program verification.
- Prepares machine control process programs.
- Installs new and revised programs, and applies part programs on the Shop floor as necessary.
- Participates in selection of tooling and fixtures.
- Manages costs and expenses through process efficiencies.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzes complex manufacturing drawings to develop and prepare process-part programs for multi-axis machining operations for any type of CNC-controlled machine tool to achieve customer requirements, including Program verification.
- Performs CNC programming to achieve quality, productivity, schedule performance, cost and system compliance.
- Manages costs and expenses through process efficiencies.
- Prepares machine control process programs.
- Participates in selection of tooling and fixtures.
- Prepares instructional manuscripts, process tapes, and instructions for the preparation of tapes/thumb drives in computers.
- Installs new and revised programs, and applies part programs on the Shop floor as necessary.
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Qualifications
- Must pass Company and NASA required background check and be eligible to obtain a NASA security badge.
- Five (5) years of experience as a CNC Machinist Operator.
- Five (5) years of experience in CNC programming.
- Two-year Machine Shop Technology Vocational College Certificate.
Working Conditions
- Bending, stooping, and walking.
- Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.
- Physical effort involving standing, sitting, walking, or detail work.
- Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.
Special Knowledge and Skills
Proficient in GibbsCAM programming software, and be able to draw 2D parts, model 3D parts, program from 2D drawings and 3D models, engineer parts from verbal communication, and use CAD software to complete the task at hand.
- Able to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects through to completion.
- Proficient in Mazak™ equipment interface hardware and software programming packages.
Preferences:
- Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.

- Clean, neat, and professional personal appearance.
- Must pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
