The Cloud Relational Database Engineer will be a point person/domain expert providing crucial business solutions and provide technical mentorship to the team and customers. You should be in a good position to exhibit technical expertise and provide all needed work at Industry standard.

What you will be able to do:

• Participate in special projects that follow a typical systems development life cycle including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and implementation, involving creation of internal processes and procedures, research, and the implementation of database systems.
• Assist in automating tools for planning and implementing database and application changes.
• Provide the DBA liaison function to the Application Developers, Google vendor and the Business Customers.
• Work with customers to define and maintain a database environment for application development and testing.
• Provide Google native relational databases like Cloud Spanner, AlloyDB and Open source relational database like CloudSQL PostgreSQL DB Engineering/Administration support including software evaluation, POC readout, software installation and patching, backup and recovery, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Review and enforce database security and control policies.
• Product Engineering activities include service owner adoption, evaluating features, identify gaps, POC testing, Automation efforts, Service Desk setup, certification, work with vendor support.
• Assist in database problem identification and resolution.
• Evaluate new database products and features.
• Production support activities include Database Monitoring and Maintenance, Incident Resolution, Problem Management (Root Cause Analysis), Routine Consumption & Performance Management, Customer Support/Help, Security and Controls, Infrastructure Support and Training. Development and Enhancement Services includes Database Design, Database Structure Changes, Data Migration to Support Development Activities, Implementation Planning/New Tech Assessments and DB Builds (Agile).

The minimum requirements we seek:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• 10+ years of experience in database technologies, performance optimization for large OLTP applications
• 10+ years of IT experience
• 1+ years of experience with Cloud database services in GCP/AWS/Azure
• 1+ years of experience with Google Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL, SQL Server or MySQL) and/or Cloud Spanner that includes architect and provide service offering to product development team

The preferred requirements we seek:

• Ability to work in a large, sophisticated business and technical environment
• Excellent communication skills written as well as verbal
• Ability to communicate optimally with both the business and technical teams
• Experience in migrating on-prem Oracle/SQL Server to GCP Cloud SQL PostgreSQL/Cloud Spanner
• Ability to articulate the value proposition of solution/services to senior teams from client/prospect
• Fast starter, optimally delivers with limited supervision
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task
• Experience in ora2pg and GCP DMS (Database Migration Service) or similar migration tools
• Master's degree in Computer Science
• Experience in supporting PostgreSQL on Google Cloud and On-OpenShift environment
• Experience doing development in a Tekton/CICD pipeline
• Unix shell scripting, Terraform development experience for provisioning GCP Cloud SQL PostgreSQL/Cloud Spanner
• Experience in SSL and IAM authentication for GCP Cloud SQL PostgreSQL/Cloud Spanner
