Job Description
Cloud Engineering Manager

This role has been designated as ‘Edge’, which means you will primarily work outside of an HPE office.

:

About our organization:

A career in HPE GreenLake Cloud Platform (GLCP) will give you the chance to help build a large-scale management platform powering a hybrid edge-to-cloud world. HPE GreenLake allows the world's largest and most diverse enterprises to deliver with speed, agility, and scale – while keeping their data where it needs to be and ensuring their sustainability and green goals are met and exceeded.

Our teammates search beyond customers' needs of today to accelerate what is next and make a difference — for others, our company, and the planet. Our customers turn to us because we are positive, empathetic, and enterprising. Nowhere is this better reflected than in our running in production with 100K+ dedicated customers and 1M+ devices. From vital solutions for small businesses with a single storefront to essential applications for large retail chains with thousands of locations. Together we make what was once thought impossible possible.

What you'll do:

GLCP is the underpinning of HPE GreenLake. It is the foundation of a rich set of HPE cloud services in networking, data services, high-performance computing, and compute operations management. It delivers a unified operational experience with single sign-on access, security, compliance, elasticity, and data protection.

As a Cloud Engineering Manager, you, with support from your Senior Cloud Engineering Manager, will lead and coach engineers around the world who are implementing GLCP's zero-trust security architecture using open-source technologies like SPIFFE and Istio. You will build, own, and cultivate a growing software engineering team. They will integrate into a larger, multi-site organization that employs a scalable Agile framework, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and ground-up test automation. You will coach your team and employ servant leadership principles in supporting their professional development. You will build 360' relationships within the organization, always creating a meaningful roadmap for your team.

This role requires strong technical aptitude. You must cultivate your own technical knowledge and create a culture of continuous learning. You will partner with product management to groom, refine, and size requirements to meet your capacity. You will work with program management and your senior engineers to translate those requirements into delivered features that are auto tested, allowing for continuous delivery.

Trust and integrity are core principles of the organization. You will be a leader in this regard.

The technology you'll interact with:

GLCP employs contemporary technologies typical of any large cloud-native environment. We will invest in you, but we seek individuals with previous experience in any mix of the following:

  • AI/ML suites
  • Docker Swarm
  • Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • GitHub
  • Aha!
  • Kubernetes (K8S)
  • Golang
  • Jira
  • Public cloud provider toolilng

What
you’ll need:

  • Willingness to work with teams across time zones
  • 5 years+ as a software engineer, preferably having worked on cloud-based distributed architectures
  • Persuasive communication skills (written and oral)
  • Working experience with CI/CD and open-source cloud development tools
  • Working, demonstrable knowledge of cloud-native development
  • 2 years+ as a software engineering manager in a large-scale Agile development environment
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent

What are some things we'd love to see:

  • M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience as a project management, product owner, and/or scrum master experience

At HPE, we’re:

  • Ranked 7th on Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2022
  • Named a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion for the sixth year in row
  • Recognized as one of the Best Companies for Multicultural Women by Seramount
  • Ranked 19th on Fortune’s 2022 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For.

We provide equal opportunities and a flexible work-life balance. Aligning with HPE’s technical career path, we offer both vertical and horizontal growth.
