Overview


Purpose Statement/Position Summary:


Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is on a multi-year digital transformation strategy to improve the quality, effectiveness and convenience of care delivery, through the creation and delivery of innovative digital products and increase awareness and preference for CHLA across digital channels and audiences. Under the direction of the VP, Chief Marketing and Communication Officer, and the Director, Digital Marketing, the Digital Marketing team will innovate and improve digital channels and products and deliver them to patients, families, consumers and clinicians and other end-users through multiple digital channels. These digital channels and platforms are aligned with key strategic enterprise priorities for CHLA. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for managing the product roadmap for digital product offerings (end-to end customer experience), from ideation to implementation. The Senior Product Manager defines customer and business requirements, enabling cross-functional teams to develop solutions efficiently. The Senior Product Manager ensures products align with enterprise strategic priorities, defines key metrics for product success, prioritizes product features, conducts market research to evaluate best practices, evaluates product performance and determines improvements, maintains relationships with vendors and ultimately owns the product. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the design, features, operations, and outcomes of the digital products that support patient and staff experiences. Develops the vision and strategy to create a highly engaging digital experience leveraging a variety of technology platforms. Works to develop product feature roadmap, develop and deliver operational metrics, and continually captures consumer and patient feedback to drive the product backlog. Works in partnership with information systems, consumer experience, marketing, and clinical teams to enhance digital capabilities in the delivery of health care. The Senior Product Manager will partner with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Information Services, Legal, Risk, Marketing & Communications) and external stakeholders (e.g., technology vendors) to build, develop and deploy digital products. The Senior Product Manager uses Agile, Design Thinking and Lean methodologies, as needed, to effectively manage product development and deployment.


Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience


  • Keen understanding of stakeholders and their needs
  • Strong understanding of both the digital channel and application landscape, capabilities of the technology within a channel and how experience/context is managed across the channels
  • Strong listening, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Experience managing through change
  • Strong demonstrated ability to deliver results while working through others in a highly matrixed organization and motivate a team culture that is respectful and supports the values of excellence and integrity
  • Experience in large, cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
  • Ability to partner directly with technology teams to translate product requirements and user stories into technology requirements required.
  • Ability to identify and address program execution needs in a fast-paced environment, driving an innovation process from conceptualization through to launch.
  • Ability to build strong cross functional relationships across creative, non-creative, and technical stakeholders
  • Experience bringing solutions to deployment, within a product development framework
  • 5 years of professional experience in healthcare digital and website product management environment
  • Advanced experience in understanding and translating business/clinical processes into consumable steps delivered through digital means in a way that is intuitive for the end consumer
  • Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment, helping to bring structure and deliver results
  • Experience assessing and managing technology vendors
  • Resourceful and results-oriented self-starter, with an ability to thrive in a feedback-driven culture and "roll up-your-sleeves" environment
  • Strong understanding of human centered design fundamentals and focus on customer centricity and demonstrated understanding of application to product improvement


Act with an intellectual curiosity to obtain insights from data and search for solutions to the problems being explored as well as new ones to be discovered


  • Understand math and statistical concepts to provide analysis to formulate meaningful decisions.
  • Experience using Agile, Design thinking and/or lean methodologies
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Create a positive work environment that fosters successful team performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, specifically with an ability to communicate effectively across multiple management levels
  • Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail


Education/Licensure/Certification


Bachelor's degree in digital design, business, marketing, engineering, computer science, or related field required. Preferred: Master of Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or Product Development.


Pay Scale Information


USD $80,288.00 - USD $144,518.00


CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
