Required Qualification (as Evidenced By An Attached Resume)
Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience in data collection and data tracking.
Preferred Qualification
Proficiency with MS word and excel. Previous experience working in patient-related research environment. CITI training in human research (Biomedical human research course).
Position Summary
The Clinical Research Assistant participates in enrolling human subjects into research protocols by performing informed consent process with potential study subjects, explaining protocols, answering questions, and fulfilling regulatory requirements for informed consent form; maintains consent forms; schedules visits, coordinates subject follow-up; in both the Infectious Diseases Clinic at Stony Brook University or research sites.
Duties

• Assist patients to understand the goals of the research and resources available.
• Call the patients for follow up according to the research protocols.
• Enroll research subjects in the hospital and outpatient clinics.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Complete questionnaire once the patients are included in the research.
• Responsible for outreach efforts to establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians, office staff, diagnostic staff, nurses, laboratory staff and principal investigator.
• Place information into the database for the sponsor.
• Attend regular meetings with research coordinator and PI.
• Screen medical records in EMR on a regular basis.
• Transport samples from clinics to main research laboratory, to prepare these samples for biobanking.
