JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Informatics Analyst facilitates the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support population health analytics to identify and improve the health of populations.

The Clinical Informatics Analyst will serve as a clinical information expert for the clinical informatics team understanding clinical and business analytics needs, writing requirements for system and predictive models, and testing models developed. The Clinical Informatics Analyst will work with clinical coders, developers, and analysts to refine existing clinical models and build new models and systems. The Clinical Informatics Analyst must have clinical training (either nursing or physician’s assistant). The Clinical Informatics Analyst must have good SQL skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Maintain knowledge on most up to date data transformation and management technologies. Supports development of data models and use of new data
  • Gathers and writes requirements for clinical and analytical models
  • Test products developed performing quality assurance and trouble shoot errors encountered during development or postproduction
  • Conducts independent quantitative operational, clinical and financial analysis (using statistical methods where appropriate) with clearly summarized findings and recommendations for technical/clinical and non-technical/clinical audiences.

  • Experience working with multiple, complex data sources at large scale
  • Experience working with IT/warehouse teams to build analytic/reporting capabilities, desired
  • Ability to translate clinical and business needs into detailed requirements for development
  • Experience working with medical, lab, and other health data, mapping of ICD-10, CPT codes
  • Skilled at SQL
  • Detail oriented
  • Business acumen on healthcare market trends

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job.

  • Two to Four (2-4) years experience in combination of clinical setting and clinical informatics, financial analytics, and/or healthcare analytics required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant (required)
  • Mathematics, Computer Science or Information Sciences degree highly desirable.
  • Experienced with SQL.
