Job Description

Claims Specialist


You will apply and enhance your negotiation skills as you represent the American National Auto Claims Division by managing multi-line, total loss claims. You will conduct evaluations, negotiations, and settlement of auto claims that are of moderate to high level complexity. This position will be hybrid working from our Springfield, MO office.


What Will You Do?


  • Negotiate and settle first- and third-party Total Loss claims
  • Draft professional written correspondence regarding various aspects of the claim
  • Review and recognize complex issues that require presentation to management, in-house counsel, defense council, and internal committee
  • Adjudicate all aspects of the claims handling process under minimal supervision
  • Establish and maintain proper reserves
  • Assist in mentoring other claims representatives
  • Communicate and promote professional relationships with insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal clients regarding the ongoing status of claim files

Required Skills


To be qualified for this position you must have experience handling auto liability claims, preferably 1 year or more. A four-year degree in a related field (Criminal Justice, Insurance and Risk Management, Business, Communications, etc.) is preferred, but not required. A working knowledge of CCC or a similar estimating program is preferred, but not required.
