Job Description

Summary

Under the supervision of the Director, you will conduct behavioral assessments and provide support and assistance in the child care setting, to parents and providers, in order to help those children, 0-5 years of age, with serious behaviors that impact their ability to learn and/or interact appropriately with others.

Duties

To assist and teach families and child care providers effective, positive behavioral strategies to enhance the child?s self-control, and sense of competence including environmental modifications. Provide parenting classes, behavioral assessments and referrals, and IEP support. Respond to requests for information, resources and services from the child care community on behavioral health issues. Provide consultation and/or assessments of children on behavioral health issues to child care providers and families. Provide workshops, training, and technical assistance to parents, providers and provider support groups on managing children with difficult behaviors. Make appropriate referrals for child and family support services. Develop a variety of outreach approaches to inform and educate the childcare community and families about effective behavioral health practices and resources for addressing children with difficult behavior. Interprets and explains to clients, relatives and community groups the social and emotional factors pertaining to childhood behavioral health issues.

Requirements

B.A/B.S. degree in social work, clinical/school psychology, child development, special education or related field. Service or credential in one of the following fields: Credential that authorizes school counseling or school psychology; credential authorizing the holder to deliver special education instruction; license as a Marriage, Family & Child Counselor; license as a Clinical Social Worker; license as an Educational Psychologist. A minimum of three years experience
working with children, families and child care providers. Training and experience in the positive management of serious behavior problems. Experience conducting behavior assessments and writing positive behavior plans.

Knowledge of appropriate assessments for various behavioral problems related to difficult behavior. Maintain patient/client confidentiality; research, compile and summarize a variety of informational and statistical data and materials; organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, clients and the general public. Communicate effectively both orally and in wiring. Ability to
demonstrate character based performance.
