HCS - SACC
The purpose of this classification is to direct activities involving supervision and instruction of students enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program.
Responsibilities
  • Conducts or coordinates training activities.
  • Oversees resolution of behavioral management issues; ensures disciplinary issues are handled in a fair, equal, and respectful manner; responds to situations involving disruptive behavior, excessive noise, fighting, or other problems; mediates disputes between individuals/groups; administers discipline in accordance with established procedures; reports problems and prepares behavior reports or incident reports as appropriate.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law and the Code of Professional Conduct Board Policy
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals; conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations.
  • Performs administrative functions; maintains daily attendance records; oversees collection of fees; may prepare and deliver bank deposits; reviews timesheets and submits payroll sheets for payment; completes payroll reports and financial reports; generates and distributes forms/reports; provides budgetary input.
  • Provides supervised care, monitors children’s activities, and provides a safe, nurturing environment for children enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program before school, after school, during summer vacation, or at other scheduled times.
  • Processes various documentation associated with child care activities.
  • Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors areas occupied by children to ensure safety of students, employees, and other individuals; removes any hazards from child care environment; disposes of biohazardous materials per established procedures; reports potentially hazardous or dangerous situations to supervisor
  • Follow established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
  • Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to school and other stakeholders.
  • Supervises daily operations, program activities, and staff activities; oversees provision of supervised care, monitoring of children’s activities, and provision of a safe, nurturing environment for children enrolled in the School Age Child Care Program before school, after school, during summer vacation, or at other scheduled times.
  • Monitors inventory levels of supplies and food items and initiates requests for new/replacement items; plans snack menu; may purchase supplies; forward receipts to Child Care Office.
  • Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, courteous, and caring manner at all times.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.
  • Responds to emergency situations; provides first aid or basic medical care to ill/injured children; determines need to call emergency personnel; dispenses required medication as directed and completes medication logs; notifies parents and supervisor of injuries/illnesses; completes accident reports as required.
  • Plans, coordinates, conducts, and/or participates in various indoor/outdoor activities for children appropriate to each age group
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
  • College level coursework or vocational training in early education, child psychology, business administration, or related fields preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • One year of experience in child care or early childhood education; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Skills/Qualifications
  • Ability to use approved disciplinary strategies when a child’s (or children) behavior is not appropriate.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a positive relationship with supervisors, principal, employees, children, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess a situation and use good judgment to resolve situations.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Compensation
$21.00/hour
