Job Description

Chief Operating Officer/General Manager/Integrator (Title flexible DOE)

Location: Orange County, CA


Our client, a highly regarded natural products testing services company, is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to partner with the Chief Executive Officer to scale the business and lead the operational strategies to new heights.


As a key member of the executive team, the COO will work closely with the CEO and President on a range of key strategic, business, and operational issues; develop and implement plans for scaling infrastructure of systems, processes, and staff designed to meet the current and emerging objectives of the organization to ensure the company has the appropriate strategies and processes in place to make it an effective, efficient, sustainable organization – and it continues to be a great place to work!


Responsibilities

Strategic and Organizational Leadership ––

  • Successfully lead organizational change across functions and serve as catalyst for innovation, transparency, and continuous improvements
  • Ensure continued development, integration, and realization of mission statement by encompassing staff development, organizational infrastructure, culture, strategy, and community engagement
  • Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities, plans and achievements
  • Provide effective, forward-thinking, and inspiring leadership across functional areas by being actively involved in all programs, developing broad and deep knowledge of core businesses, and nurturing structure for empowered decision-making across teams
  • Work with CEO to develop long-term strategic plan for organization; oversee implementation of department goals and financial management
  • Build organizational staff capacity, develop processes that ensure organization runs smoothly and establish environment that promotes teamwork across diverse aspects of organization’s functions
  • Manage, develop, evaluate, and mentor staff; provide leadership and guidance in goal setting, problem solving, resource management and outcome achievement


Program Management ––

  • Assess and analyze risk associated with organizational strategies and growth opportunities
  • Strengthen operational systems and processes to improve cross-functional communication and decision making for current and future projects
  • Identify and initiate opportunities to create increased operational efficiencies and leverage assets/resources to increase capacity for impact
  • Ensure accurate and consistent data collection and evaluation of programmatic efforts
  • Develop, refine, implement, and maintain system for tracking and reporting all aspects of operational processes
  • Execute fiscal year plan and hit production goals while staying under budget
  • Coordinate activities to ensure transparency and collaboration between departments, appropriate communication, and efficient program delivery; anticipate future opportunities and market conditions


People and Cultural Leadership ––

  • Provide real-time constructive feedback on staff performance, encourage professional development, and identify career paths for team members
  • Enhance culture by reinforcing values: integrity, reciprocity, teamwork and work-life balance
  • Lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams across multiple departments and deepen cross-functional understanding, communication, and workflow
  • Provide leadership and guidance in goal setting, problem solving, resource management and outcome achievement; work with teams to develop annual work plans and measurements for personnel accountability and program efficiencies
  • Identify ways to grow impact, monitor program activities for critical path processes and adapt to impacts of dynamic markets
  • Build and foster healthy, equitable, diverse, and inclusive culture


Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams to innovate in high-growth environments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across difference business lines on time and within budget
  • Familiarity with Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) is a plus
  • Experienced in balancing leadership and management roles within growing, dynamic organization; highly effective at change management
  • 10+ years of experience achieving results in small to mid-size organizations
