Job Description

Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer

As the Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Office (COO) at GitHub, you’ll work directly for the COO on strategically chosen projects, decision making, and messaging to help operate the GitHub business and help build the culture of our organization. You'll be a critical partner to other Operations stakeholders across the business, communicating plans, elevating questions, and paving our path forward. You’ll also be a key advisor, confidant, and executor for the COO as GitHub embarks on its next era of helping developers around the world.

You will collaborate with the COO’s leadership team to generate and implement recommendations to more efficiently operate and scale our operations programs and the overall business. This includes setting rhythms and cadences of staff meetings, gathering of feedback from 1:1s throughout the Operations organization, and synthesizing that into opportunities for improvement, messaging to the organization, and enablement of the entire GitHub business. You will help GitHub put its best foot forward through your facilitation of highly visible meetings with leaders at GitHub and executives at many of the world's most recognizable brands.

Your work will include contributions to the business’ direction, performance analysis, annual planning, business intelligence, executive meetings, communications, and more. You will act as a conduit between functions both within the Operations organization and across the entire business and act as a confidant and key executor for the COO.

This role requires a highly resourceful, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence across a wide variety of areas.

  • Co-maintain reviews and meetings, building agendas, capturing key insights, and tracking action items to completion.

Communications

  • Assist in building, cascading, and enabling GitHub’s key cultural values both within Operations leadership, the entire business, and, when appropriate, external stakeholders.
  • Communicate discoveries, progress and results from initiatives to management and/or the broader organization.

Strategy
