Job Description
Job Title: Chief Financial Officer Location: El Segundo, CA or Remote (USA) Start Date: Immediate Compensation: $225k - $250k/year bonus ABOUT COAST Coast (“Coast” or the “Company”) is a rapidly growing commercial and industrial (“C&I”) solar energy firm. By offering innovative systems which provide dependable solar energy to commercial businesses, Coast is disrupting the way commercial building owners purchase electricity. Through the backing of its financial sponsor, Crosstimbers Capital Group, Coast expects to finance, develop, own, and operate $300 million of commercial solar projects across the United States over the next several years. Coast owns the solar systems installed on the roofs of commercial buildings and sells solar electricity to building owners at a rate that is typically less than their current electricity provider. EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND REQUIREMENTS Coast has identified the need for an individual to lead the company’s finance & accounting division. This individual will be responsible for overseeing various financial aspects of the company’s operations and ensuring the appropriate financial measures are in place to responsibly grow the company. As part of this responsibility, this individual is expected to foster a culture of excellence, trust, and collaboration within the finance & accounting team and within the company as a whole. Responsibilities include: Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Forecasting and cash management for efficient fund utilization and long-term cash availability Develop and oversee frameworks for FP&A processes and reporting Oversight of various other Financial Planning & Analysis activities, including internal & external personnel Leadership Partner with the CEO and other members of the Management Team to help lead and drive overall business growth and company strategy Report of financial and accounting metrics to stakeholders, including Board of Directors Build, lead and mentor internal finance and accounting teams Accounting Oversee multi-fund accounting, reporting and management of external finance and audit partners Develop processes for tax oversight, audit, reporting and other accounting processes Management of external finance and accounting partners as needed Tax Equity and Capital Markets Provide technical tax equity expertise including accounting, structuring and reporting requirements Manage existing facilities and relationships with equity sponsors and senior debt sources Optimize Coast’s overall financing structure to maximize available sponsor capital and long-term returns Assist in sourcing additional capital to grow the business through debt and equity raises QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Extensive (10 years) Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and corporate finance experience Substantial (5 years) solar development and/or financing industry experience; strong preference for C&I experience Deep understanding of project finance, Power Purchase Agreements, and development finance activities Proven track record in capital raising; preference for tax equity and debt experience though not required Expertise in tax equity accounting, capital planning, multi-fund accounting, audit processes, tax oversight and other FP&A processes A trustworthy, empathetic, and servant-oriented people leader Ability to thrive in a high-paced, dynamic, small-company environment A passionate culture leader who desires to unlock the best out of each employee Detail-oriented with a strength in developing, optimizing and executing processes Superior communication, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills CFA, CPA or MBA preferred
