Position Title: Chief Financial Officer


Salary Range: $160,000 - $175,000


Position Summary


The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for all aspects of DANY's annual operating budget and contract management. The Chief Financial Officer will lead the ongoing development of strategies to achieve long-term Fiscal stability, accountability, and transparency while also addressing the agency's critical contractual and operational needs.


Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To


  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and negotiate with external actors on procurement and fiscal matters.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of new programs/strategies and legal/regulatory actions.
  • Oversee the accounting and auditing of federal equitable sharing funds and New York State forfeiture funds in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Work with officials in the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget and NYC Comptroller's Office to achieve agency goals.
  • Supervise a team of two dozen employees across the Fiscal and Procurement and Contract Management Units.
  • Collaborate on funding proposals to secure funding from City, State, and Federal sources.
  • Act as principal advisor to the Chief Operating Officer, the District Attorney, and the Executive Team on all financial issues including budgeting, accounting, grants management, and procurement.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on resource allocation decisions affecting DANY.


Minimum Qualification Requirements


  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in \"1\" above.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or

  • Ability to plan and direct the work of multidisciplinary professional and administrative staff; foster and participate in cross-functional groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large assignments and projects.
  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience in a related field, with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, with a high regard for confidentiality and diplomacy.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize among competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Experience in managing professional staff in a complex organization.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple long-term projects simultaneously.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment are essential.
  • Excellent relationship builder, strong advocacy skills.
  • Experience negotiating with New York City fiscal oversight agencies such as the NYC Comptroller's Office and the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget.


Commitment


  • Two (2) year commitment to the hiring unit.
