Job Location: This position is an in-person position and is located at the Missouri State Capitol, 201 W. Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO. Remote opportunities may become available upon proven proficiency and demonstrated mastery of skills.

What You’ll Do
This position is responsible for assisting a member with comprehensive legislative support. The Chief of Staff position is responsible for reviewing and summarizing legislation, providing daily reports on legislative activity, assisting with public policy formation and drafting legislation. Under the direction of the member, the Chief of Staff directs, coordinates, and supervises the daily and long-term operations of the member's office, including Capitol, District and Committee staff. The Chief of Staff serves as the member’s chief administrative officer.
Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates must have good customer service skills and the ability to operate a personal computer with a general proficiency in Microsoft Office. The position also requires the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The ability to work and maintain professionalism in a high pressure, fast-paced environment, adapt to various situations, and prioritize multiple work assignments simultaneously while managing various interruptions and still meeting deadlines. The ability to maintain professional confidentiality, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and the ability to stay organized and manage time effectively. A general knowledge of the legislative process is preferred.
