Job Description
THE POSITION

Are you looking for an exciting career in the field of chemistry that involves protecting the environment? The Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Laboratories, is looking for an individual to perform professional work involving the accreditation of environmental laboratories doing testing or analysis of environmental samples and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is responsible for a variety of activities, functions, duties, and responsibilities involved with the accreditation of environmental laboratories doing testing or analysis of environmental samples as required by the Act of June 29, 2002 (P.L. 596, No. 90) (dealing with environmental laboratory accreditation) (27 Pa C.S. §§ 4101 – 4113).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Chemist 1; or
  • A graduate degree in chemistry.
  • One year of professional chemical analytical experience, and a bachelor’s degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; or
Other Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
